Jonno has worked as a planner for approximately eight to nine years, beginning his career with Waikato District Council where he spent three and a half years. During his time at Council, he was responsible for Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) sign-offs, reviewing subdivision conditions and plans, processing Section 223 and 224 certification approvals, and managing resource consent applications.
Since joining Sigma Consultants Ltd, Jonno has continued to build on this experience, processing applications on behalf of Rotorua Lakes Council for approximately four years, while also preparing and lodging consent applications for clients. His primary professional interest lies in subdivision and residential development; however, his experience spans a broad range of projects including park playgrounds, storage containers, field lighting, decks, additional dwellings, and stormwater consents.
Jonno brings practical insight to his planning work, having worked as a painter and carpentry labourer before, during, and after his university studies. This hands-on construction experience provides him with a grounded understanding of the building industry and the realities of project delivery.
Outside of work, Jonno is a dedicated family man. He and his wife have three sons who keep them active and engaged. He volunteers with Waiariki Football Club, coaching junior teams and serving on the Junior Committee. He enjoys spending time outdoors swimming, hiking, and cycling, and is a keen rugby league supporter.
